Sports and PE at Camelford Primary
How We Use Our PE and Sports Premium Funding
At our school, we are committed to providing high-quality physical education and sporting opportunities for all pupils. Our PE and Sports Premium funding enables us to promote active lifestyles, build confidence, and raise achievement in sport. We focus our funding in the following key ways:
1. Increasing Participation in Competitive Sport
We work closely with Arena to maximise opportunities for pupils to take part in competitive sport. Our aim is to ensure that as many children as possible experience representing the school, developing teamwork, resilience and a positive attitude to competition. Through inclusive selection and a wide variety of events, we actively encourage all pupils to get involved—whether as first-time competitors or experienced athletes.
2. Upskilling Staff for High-Quality PE Provision
We invest in the professional development of our staff to ensure that every PE lesson is engaging, inclusive and of the highest quality. This includes training, coaching support and access to specialist expertise. By developing staff confidence and subject knowledge, we ensure all pupils benefit from well-planned, progressive and inspiring PE teaching.
3. Providing a Wide Range of After-School Clubs
We offer a broad programme of after-school sports clubs designed to inspire participation and nurture individual interests. These clubs cater for a range of abilities and provide opportunities for pupils to develop new skills, stay active, and discover a love for sport. Our goal is to engage as many pupils as possible and encourage lifelong healthy habits.
4. Improving Swimming Outcomes for All Pupils
Swimming is a vital life skill, and we prioritise ensuring all pupils make strong progress. Our funding supports additional swimming provision where needed so that the highest possible number of pupils can swim at least 25 metres confidently by the time they leave our school. We aim to build water confidence, improve technique and ensure pupils are safe in and around water.
