Art and Design
Welcome to our Art and Design subject page. At Camelford, we give our children the opportunity to have fun and experiment with thier learning through a range of mediums that aims to develop thier practical, theoretical and disiplianry knowledge of Art and Design.
We provide our children a wonderful range of opportunities to express themselves through imaginative experiences. We are inspired by artists from the past and present in our artists study which opens up our minds to see how we can be creative when sharing ideas. Every year we practise and develop our drawing, painting and sculpting skills with textiles and collage taught bianually. One very exciting medium that our children enjoy in key stage 2 is digital art.

Art Club
We made lots of colourful feathers to make these impressive wings. Here to resemble our ability to soar high and take the risks with our learning.
Guest Artist
We hosted a local artist who helped us to think about our local environment. Developing skills and techniques that inspired us to create an abstract self portrait.
Reception - Daymer
Our learning journey begins through developing children’s artistic and cultural awareness throught their imagination and creativity. We have regular opportunities to engage with the arts, which enables them to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials. The quality and variety of what children see, hear and participate in is crucial for developing their understanding, self-expression, vocabulary and ability to communicate through the arts. The frequency, repetition and depth of their experiences are fundamental to their progress in interpreting and appreciating what they hear, respond to and observe.
Year 1/2 - Trevone, Summerleaze & Lundy
The National Curriculum states that art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. At Camelford we believe this too and celebrate children's ability to be imaginative that inspires and challenges them. We equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art. Together with artists studies, and an opportunity to experiment with a range of mediums, our journey begins with landscapes and focuses on the basics of line, tone, shapes and colours.
Year 5/6 - Fistral, Tintagel & Bossiney
As we lead towards the end of our journey at Camelford school, we begin to apply all the skills we have learnt and celebrate our artistic talents in a range of ways. Digital art is exciting as we are more familiar with technology, but practising some of the traditional methods (painting and drawing) keeps us humble and proud of our achievements.
North Cornwall Learning Trust Exhibition
The whole trust collaborated to create a wonderful travelling exhibition. Across all the schools in the Trust, we were given a single brief - North Cornwall. We had an excellent range of artistic pieces from EYFS paintings to a GCSE mermaid sculpture. It really was incredible to see how the children in our care flourish and thrive in our school.
