THE IMPACT
Our school has a clear assessment strategy for learners in each subject. Coordinators of subjects ensure teachers know the age-related expectations for their learners. Pupil's learning is formally assessed termly in reading and writing, and end-of-unit assessments are conducted in Science, History, Geography, and RE. Teachers use assessment to guide their teaching, put in interventions, and ensure pupils are meeting the learning expectations. SLT monitoring ensures teachers and learners are supported to ensure all pupils are supported to make excellent progress and the school reaches its national targets.
Our curriculum gives children real opportunities to develop key social skills, understand the difference between right and wrong, explore their own spirituality, show respect, celebrate difference and diversity, and understand the values that underpin a democratic society.

Fulfilling Our Values ...Our Community
My Cornwall, My Home- Learning about Diversity, Pride of Place and Home
Our 3 week topic focussing on Cornwall as a sense of place was inspired by the G7 Summit being held in Cornwall. The topic included lots of learning about Camelford and Cornwall, and included a trip to Roughtor, an art exhibition and learning a Harry Glasson song, 'Cornwall, My Home'. Harry visited school and inspired the children to be proud of who they are and where they come from. Inspired by the poem, 'I am an African Child' by Eku McGred, our pupils investigated, compared and debated what it is to be Cornish. They thought about culture, experience and perspective. They reflected on what it means to be growing up in Cornwall and then classes created a performance poem of their own, 'I am a Cornish Child'. Have a listen and enjoy.

Be sure to watch it through, it's very good- especially the middle bit.

Fundraising for Local and National Charities
This year we have encouraged pupils, families and our wider school to support our local community.
1. Pupils have raised £368 for Children in Need in November
2. We collected 4 boxes of non perishable food for the Camelford Larder
3. School Ambassadors represented our school at the Christingle. They read 2 readings from the bible.
4. Year 5/6 pupils did carol singing at the Bandstand in the town centre for the community. They raised £133 for the Camelford Larder.
5. CPS raised £220.67 for the Royal British Legion during the Poppy Appeal.
Caring for our Environment
In 2022 we are embarking on an environmental experiment on our school field by planting a temperate rainforest. 150 trees will be planted the traditional way and 450 the Miyawaki way which is a more intense method. Pupils will plant, monitor and analyse the success of each type planting.
Our school council are working to reduce our carbon footprint and amount of waste we produce.
